Status and Issues
As a result of concentrated heavy rain over about 5 days, the heaviest rainfall ever was recorded at the site.
It was found that flooding and landslides occurred over a wide area, and several rivers were blocked, so the company’s emergency survey and evacuation decision monitoring system was introduced.
The site was a mountainous area with no electrical power supply, and was outside the mobile phone connection area. However by using the company’s measuring instruments which are operable for a long period with commercially available lithium batteries and small size solar panels, it was possible to rapidly construct a disaster resistant monitoring and measuring system.
