Purpose of installation
To detect the occurrence of mudflows due to volcanic ash deposited as a result of a volcanic eruption, and to minimize the mudflow damage by issuing warnings and encouraging the local residents downstream to evacuate
System Details
Wire sensors for detection of mudflows were installed in each of three nearby gorges, arranged so that alarms can be sounded in remote areas using communication equipment and alarm devices.
