SLG-30E Extensometer Data Logger with LCD The SLG-30E Extensometer Data Logger with LCD was developed to meet the needs of users who must check extensometer data and make judgments on-site. A graphical liquid crystal display for data checking is incorporated into the Extensometer Data Logger's main unit as standard equipment. Emphasis is placed on ease of installation, ease of operation, reduction of power consumption and environmental durability. The unit has a data gathering function and an alarm function, and was designed for maximum reliability, practicality and versatility. It can be used not only at landslide sites but also at slope failure and collapse sites.

Immediately Usable
¡ü A graphical liquid crystal display panel is incorporated.¡¡
¡ü Graphs of changes over time, present measured values, amounts of displacement over time, the time, and battery voltage are displayed so that conditions on site can be understood at a glance.
¡ü The time displacement alarm can be easily set from 1mm to 7mm by a rotary switch.
¡ü A fail-safe alarm function makes sure that only reliable alarm signals are output.
¡ü A twisted pair cable can be extended up to 500m from this unit's communication port, so that data can be checked and recovered from a location remote from the installation location (when connected to a NetCT-1 Network Controller).

Principal Functions and Characteristics

¡üGraph Display
A graphical liquid crystal display is incorporated into the main unit. When the liquid crystal display button is pressed, a graph of displacements over the past week can be immediately checked on-site. Button operation can also be performed to view displacements over the past day or the past hour. In addition, a list of measured values over the past 2 weeks (data measured at 0:00 every day) is displayed. The present measured value and the amount of displacement over an hour can be simultaneously checked on the liquid crystal display. An understanding of the landslide condition permits quick action to be taken on site. In addition, if the liquid crystal display button is pressed continuously for 5 seconds, information about the unit including the settings and the alarm history can be checked.

¡üAlarm Function
When the amount of displacement in a given time exceeds the arbitrarily set alarm threshold, no-voltage contact output comes ON for 10 seconds. It is possible to use our company's AL-TypeA Alarm Unit to easily drive a siren or revolving light. In addition, to prevent false alarms from being given due to either natural faults or human error, the alarm threshold is judged to be exceeded only when the measured value remains in excess of the alarm threshold continuously for 2 seconds or more. This time setting can be changed using the NetCT-1 Controller. If both the main and sub batteries are removed for 30 seconds or more, the amount of displacement over time can be reset. The history of alarms issued by the liquid crystal display unit can be checked.

¡üEasy-to-Understand Operation
The time displacement alarm setting can be performed with a rotary switch; all that is necessary to start monitoring and gathering data is to insert a battery. Troublesome settings are completely avoided.

¡üAbility to Withstand severe Environmental Conditions
Surge protectors are installed on all routes through which electricity can enter from outside so that the construction is resistant to both static electricity and external noise. The design which emphasizes reliability makes stable operation possible throughout a wide temperature range, from -20oC to +55oC.

¡üLow Power Consumption
Long-term observations and issuing of alarms are performed on lithium batteries, while constantly measuring the output of a potentiometer coupled with a pull-out wire having a constant tension mechanism with a resolution of 0.1mm, and judging whether an alarm is needed based on those measurements. The power supply consisting of a main lithium battery and a sub-lithium battery permits observations to be continued for 7 months or longer. In addition, the condition of both the main and sub batteries can be checked on the built-in liquid crystal display.

¡üFunctional Upgrades
The incorporated software program can be easily upgraded, so the latest functions can be easily added. See the download page regarding software upgrading.
¡üRecording and Data Recovery
One minute measurement data can be recorded for up to 5 days; one hour measurement data can be recorded for up to 317 days. For each interval instantaneous values on the minute or hour, average values, minimum values and maximum values are recorded. Using this function both short term instantaneous data and long term data can be recorded without interruption. The recorded data are accumulated in the internal flash memory, starting with the most recent data, and are retained even if all of the batteries become exhausted. These recorded values can be recovered on a PC card using the NetCT-1 Controller.

Example of System Configuration
For use at a landslide site Communication ports are used here. Connect when recovering data. Basic operation method
For use at a landslide site The mobile NetCT-1 Controller is used to recover data onto a PC card. Settings can be performed when necessary.
Basic operation method
The Extensometer Data Viewer is used to check and output the data. In addition, D-Station can be used to create graphs and tables.
